PHILLIES FILES: Opening Day lineup minus Utley seems possible

Got the MRI report nowadays. I have mild patellar chondromalacia with evidence of fissuring over the apex and medial patellar facet. The patella, nonetheless, is typical in position. The quadriceps tendon, patellar ligament and patellar retinacula appears grossly intact. There is minimally increased fuid in the joint space.

Chondromalacia means the abnormal softening or degeneration of cartilage. Chondro- refers to cartilage although malacia (from the Greek malakia, softness) means softening. The back of my patella is wearing away.

Chondromalacia is fascinating in that it typically strikes young, otherwise healthy, athletic people. Ladies are more generally affected with chondromalacia. Precisely why this is the case is unknown, but it is thought to have to do with anatomical differences between men and girls, in which females encounter increased lateral forces on the patella.

Hoorah. I know what's wrong with it now for certain. Now for treatment ^_^

I had knee surgery 3 months ago and still have considerable soreness. Should I be worried?

Question by mikeyj24: I had knee surgery 3 months ago and still have considerable soreness. Should I be worried?
I've recently tried to get back to becoming a little active, but I experience soreness in the course of and following exercise (which lasts for days). My surgery was an arthroscopic procedure to clean up a tear in my lateral meniscus. When my physician got in there, he also found Grade three chondromalacia patella (which was debrided) and he performed an ecscision of the medial plica. I started PT 2 weeks right after the surgery and went consistently for 2 months and was released soon after I got full range of motion back and full quad strength. In spite of all of this, I'm still experiencing a lot of soreness. Should I be concerned?

Given that it's your knee, you need to understand something: it's holding your Entire body weight on it. If your knee is sore right after a surgery, that's a sign it needs a small much more rest. But don't give it too a lot, or it won't be utilized to moving or sustaining any weight. Baby actions, fairly significantly literally and figuratively.

Arthroscopic examination of patella

Following examining the lateral gutters, the arthroscope is brought up and around the condyle to view the trochlea and the undersurface of the patella - the region known as the patello-femoral joint. The probe has reached underneath the patella, where the cartilage is not regular. The probe is able to make a dimple (this softening is referred to as 'chondromalacia'). You can see the fluid inlet in the distance.
